MCC Malawi Transport and Land Compact Signing

U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken hosts President of Malawi Lazarus Chakwera, Malawi Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs Sosten Gwengwe, and Millennium Challenge Corporation CEO Alice Albright at State Department’s Burns Auditorium for the signing of the USD $350 million MCC-Malawi Transport and Land Compact. This is MCC’s second compact with Malawi. The Malawi Transport and Land Compact, which includes a USD $26.5 million contribution from the Government of Malawi, is designed to reduce transport costs by upgrading more than 300 kilometers of road to connect farmers to markets and by strengthening the country’s land administration.
